Prof. Christophe Baudouin

Christophe Baudouin is professor of Ophthalmology since 1995, Versailles Saint-Quentin - Paris Saclay University. He is chairman of the department of Ophthalmology III in Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital, Paris, president of the Medical Council and director of the University-Hospital Institute (IHU) FORESIGHT. From 2008 to 2022 he was also the Director of an INSERM-labelled research group, at Vision Institute, Sorbonne University. He is currently the president of the European Dry Eye Society, Editor-in-chief of the French Journal of Ophthalmology, vice-president of the French Glaucoma Society, and active member of several international societies, including the prestigious American Ophthalmological Society and Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis.

Pooja Khamar currently serves as a consultant in cataract, Dry Eye, and Refractive services at Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute. Beyond her clinical responsibilities, she actively engages in translational research at her institute and affiliated organizations, including GROW and IBMS Lab. Her academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, focusing on “Wound healing in Refractive Surgery.” Dr. Khamar completed her Post Graduation at NHL Medical Municipal College, Ahmedabad, and pursued her fellowship in CORE (Cataract Optics Refractive Excellence) at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. Her areas of expertise encompass Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Dry Eye, and Keratoconus, with extensive practical experience in these domains.

Prof. Rohit Shetty

Rohit Shetty is the Vice Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute. He is a Professor at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, India and an Adjunct Associate Professor at MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore and is an Affiliate Associate Professor and PhD guide at the Maastricht University in the Netherlands.Prof. Dr. Rohit Shetty has over 200 Publication in peer reviewed indexed Journals. He is a Corneal Refractive Surgeon at Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute, Bangalore, India. His other areas of work include Neuro-ophthalmology & electrophysiology.Prof. Dr. Rohit Shetty defended his PhD from Maastricht University, Netherlands on Understanding the Clinical, Immunological and Genetic Molecular Mechanism of Keratoconus.

Prof. Francoise Brignole-Baudouin

MD, PhD, is head of the ophthalmobiology laboratory at the Hôpital National de la Vision des 15-20 in Paris and associate professor in toxicology at Paris Cité University. She has expertise in ocular toxicology, particularly in the toxicological evaluation of xenobiotics, chemicals, drugs or environmental pollutants on the ocular surface. She has developed a large set of in vitro and in vivo experimental models and currently uses modern omic-type technologies for biomarker investigations in dry eye disease. She was promoted to the rank of Knight in the Order of the Legion of Honor in 2023.

Prof. Elisabeth M. Messmer

Elisabeth M. Messmer, F.E.B.O., is part of the faculty at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich since June 1997 and was appointed professor in 2014. Her clinical specialties are medical and surgical cornea, ocular surface disease, and inflammatory diseases of the anterior segment of the eye. In addition, she is head of the department of Ophthalmic Pathology at LMU Munich. She is part of the Executive Committee of the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG), treasurer of the newly formed European Dry Eye Society (EuDES), and member of numerous organizations including DOG, TFOS, DOP, EOPS, and ARVO, She acts as reviewer for several national and international journals, has published over 100 articles in distinguished journals and has contributed to and/or edited 13 ophthalmology books.

François Majo currently works in his private practice in Lausanne. He is Privat Docent at the University of Lausanne. François does research in Ophthalmology, on ocular surface, corneal graft and femtosecond laser, corneal disease, chronic inflammation of the ocular surface.

Prof. Geetha lyer

Dr Geetha Iyer FRCS(Glasgow), FRCS(Ed), FRCOphth, completed her training in Ophthalmology and Fellowship in Cornea and External Disease from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, India in 2003. She has done a short-term observer ship in Ocular Surface Disorders with Dr Scheffer C G Tseng, Miami, USA in Oct 2006 and in Boston Type 1 keratoprosthesis with Dr Claes H Dohlman in Nov 2006. She was trained by Prof Giancarlo Falcinelli in performing the MOOKP procedure. She has so far done more than 300 keratoprosthesis surgeries (MOOKP, Boston Type 1 and 2 Kpro and osteo Kpro). She is actively involved in the management of ocular surface disorders and dry eye. As a founding member of the Cornea Society of India, she was the President of the Society in the year 2020. She is on the Board of Directors of the International Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS). She is an Adjunct Faculty at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). She is a steering committee member of the International Kpro Study Group. Her work in the management of chronic ocular sequelae of Stevens Johnson syndrome has been extensive with an aim to preventing the occurrence / deterioration of the sequelae as well as understanding better the immunopathology of the ocular disease. Her other areas of interest include dry eye, pediatric penetrating keratoplasty, ocular surface tumors, ocular surface disorders including chemical injuries, stem cell transplants and keratoprosthesis.
